| 1 | Distribution of staff handbooks |
| BJ gave each team member present a Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Staff Handbook and briefly ran through the procedure required to log training progress. Throughout the handbook there are questions, designed to ensure that readers have understood what they've just read. The answers to many of these questions can be found at the end of section 4b. At the end section 1 there are forms, some of which are applicable, to be completed by each team member and by BJ. After section 4e there's a LEARNING LOG which, where applicable, needs to be ticked and signed off by BJ. Section 5 does not seem to be applicable to First Responders but rather to Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust employees only. | |
| 2 | Staff awards for excellence |
| Steve Roberts has asked for recommendations for staff awards for excellence. This is he says a great opportunity to recognize the hard work carried out by all responders across Wales. BJ asked those present to consider if anyone in PFR should be put forward for an award. | |
| 3 | Skills Audit |
|
During the First Responder forums meeting last year there were discussions about gathering information about the additional skills that first/co responders have other than the first responder training (and first aid training), e.g. qualified nurse, doctor, St Johns etc. BJ has been asked to identify to Steve Roberts anyone with such an additional skill base and issue them with a form to complete. There are 3 such volunteers within PFR who have completed the form which will be returned to Steve. |
|
| 4 | Refresher training |
| Steve Roberts has asked BJ
to suggest suitable dates in late Spring for refresher training in Pennard.
It was decided to suggest either Sunday 25th April or Sunday 23rd May. New
recruits would not have to attend but will nevertheless be welcome should
they wish to do so. Once the date has been confirmed the small meeting room
in the community centre will be booked. [ Note: this has now
been confirmed for 23rd May from 10am to 4pm.] |
|
| 5 | Change of meeting dates for 2010 |
| Because we are no longer able to
book Tuesday or Wednesday evenings in the hall, the following changes will
be made to the scheduled meeting and training dates for 2010 (subject to
availability): The business meeting on Wednesday 2nd June has been rescheduled for Thursday 3rd June The training evening on Wednesday 1st September has been rescheduled for Thursday 2nd September The training evening on Wednesday 3rd November has been rescheduled for Thursday 4th November JC will update the dates on the web site. |
|
| 6 | Purchase of extra kit |
| Many FR groups now equip both responders on call with full kits; Mumbles for example. It was agreed that PFR should use its own funds to purchase a full second kit, including a second defib, plus 2 satnavs and LED torches. JC will follow this up and also find out what clothing is required. | |
| 7 | Rota re-jig |
| Productive discussion resulted in a provisional rota that includes all current team members (please see here). All members will be asked to check this to see they are happy with their individual slots as displayed on the rota before the rota goes live. Some new members have not yet received their ID cards and PINs and cannot therefore go live until BJ has sorted this out. | |
