COMMUNICATIONS - Mobile phones

Who holds the scheme's mobile phone?
Each couple on call will determine who will hold the mobile phone. At the start of every shift whoever holds the mobile phone (telephone number 07824 499405) should use it to contact Ambulance Control in Carmarthen (the number is in the phone's memory or you can phone  01267 229473). Tell them that you are Pennard First Responders and wish to book on cover until whatever time your shift ends and are ready to respond to calls within that period. Give your names and PINs. If they ask what for Pennard's call sign is please tell them it's 927.

The mobile phone should always be kept nearby when you are on call. When you are required to attend a first responder call, the call logging system in Ambulance Control will automatically send a text to the mobile phone. The phone has been configured to sound a long and loud alert jingle so you shouldn't sleep through it at night! Please phone ambulance control to check that you are indeed required to respond* and fill in any gaps in the information.  Remember that its battery has to be recharged from time to time, so if you notice the battery bar is low please use the charger (kept in the green bag) to top up its charge. Ensure that you know how to call your partner's landline or personal mobile phone from the scheme's mobile phone. The land line numbers and personal mobile phone numbers of all PFR team members will be loaded into the memory of the scheme's mobile phone.

*Our area overlaps Mumbles' area so there may be times when we get a text even though the Mumbles team should respond.

Landlines and personal mobile phones

If you don't hold the scheme's mobile phone during your shift, your partner will inform you of a call-out by phoning you on your landline or personal mobile phone. Please ensure that your mobile phone (if you have one) is switched on and to hand throughout your shift - just in case your land line is engaged!
